AN INTRODUCTION

Jail also known as a prison is a permanent or temporary place used for the detention of prisoners.

To maintain the administrative arrangement in the Jails of Chhattisgarh, Jail Superintendents are posted at the Central and District Jails. In Sub-Jails and the charge of Superintendent is with the Chief Medical Officer of the jail.

The Jail Superintendent is fully responsible for his jail.

RESPONSIBLITIES OF THE DEPARTMENT

The major responsibilies of the jail department are to provide overall security, food and clothing, education and to train them in the constructive industry for the prisoners to enable their rehabilitation on their release.
